I met Daniel at Sea Otter hoping I could find an excuse not to spend nearly $400 on a helmet. I walked away counting change in my pockets until I could buy one. That day is finally today.

I wanted to be an engineer as a kid. Life took me other directions, but I'm fascinated by quality design and function-over-form principles. I've had two concussions (both from football) and I take the health of my remaining brain quite seriously. So when I heard about the new Virginia Tech rankings scale and the new winner I had to look into it, and then about two weeks after that I got to see it in person at Sea Otter.

Press pieces don't do it justice. The booth had all the best visuals for every layer in the helmet and why it works. The test fit was for the large because he was sold out of the mediums already, which was a good sign in my book. I got to pick Daniel's brain a bit and was impressed every time, which is not a thing I get to say very often. Seeing the cut-up helmet in person gave me the full picture of how it works and I cannot find any faults with the design.

I used to want an aero helmet. Why not save the watts? But I can recover from wasting two or three watts far more than I can recover from a third concussion. A helmet is there to protect your brain, and to do so without cooking it inside or becoming a parachute. There are cheaper helmets that score really well, but if there's ever a component or accessory to spend extra on it's a hard bargain to put it anywhere other than the helmet.

Protecting her noggin is my #1 priority. ❤️

When my wife Patricia suffered a traumatic brain injury, everything changed.

My first decision was simple:

If she was going to ride again, I would do everything I could to protect her head.

So in 2025, I researched independent testing and chose what was, at the time, the #1 rated helmet available.

I really love the SI Helmet- I bought it because of it crash rating, my Giro helmet pads got warn out and I could not find replacement pads anywhere online. So I decided to buy a new helmet, so I bought the best!
The SI helmet is not only safe, but it fits different, it covers more of your head making the contact pressure less so it is more comfortable. I ride every day in the Hot FL sun, it is cooler than my other helmets, it is very light and very aerodynamic. It is a win in every category: Comfort, Feel, Aerodynamics and most of all Safety. I have convinced many of the friends to buy one.

Love my new helmet! I have never had a helmet fit this precise before. I chose the helmet based on testing that found it was the number one helmet for your head! Glad I did. Pikio provides great vison and was cool when riding in the summer heat. Expensive, not really, what is your protection worth to you? To us it was a great investment.

Extremely comfortable helmet…side straps and the head securing system work flawlessly. The helmet is light and gives excellent ventilation. The bonus is definitely my piece of mind….I feel good knowing that I’m wearing the safest bicycle helmet money can buy. I don’t fully understand or see the full extent of the engineering that went into my helmet. But I know it’s there and I take comfort in that when I’m out enjoying my rides. So much of the bike industry is hype (aero claims), incremental improvement (frame weight reduction) and limited functionality (hookless wheels on skinny tired road bikes)—but this helmet is the real deal. Safe, well made, comfortable and good-looking.

I recently bought a PIKIO SI helmet and I really like it! It's obviously a very safe helmet based on the Virginia Tech testing, extremely light-weight and comfortable, and has tremendous air-flow while riding. I'm very glad I made the decision to purchase this helmet! I would recommend this helmet to others.

I purchased this after crashing on my bike and was likely saved from paralysis or death by my helmet. I wanted a safer one. The PIKIO is comfortable, cool, light. I hope to never find out if it's more protective than the last one; as testing says it should be.

Without a doubt this is the best fitting, most comfortable helmet I’ve ever owned in about 45 years of wearing many different helmets, usually top end models from the best known brands. So it was a bit of a leap for me to purchase a new helmet from a new company that I’d never before heard of. The safety ratings from Virginia Tech were the key. Now that I’ve made the jump I have absolutely no regrets

Hello! What an excellent helmet. I was inspired to buy a helmet after an accident that was super scary and all my friends were already encouraging me to do so. After a ton of research I found Pikio's OBLIK technology super interesting and decided to give it a try. The price is extremelyyyy steep <- emphasis on that but I figured my life is priceless and if a helmet can protect me from losing it, its worth the dollars and cents. After receiving it I was skeptical because of the fit but adjusted pretty quickly. It is super comfortable, though when I raise my eyebrows it squeezes my temple but that means it fits the way it should... right? Anyway, its got a great sleek look and the aerodynamics are craazy! I mean the breeze that comes through is insane, feels like I am wearing nothing at all when I fly down a hill. It does get scratched up cosmetically pretty easily which at first I was bummed about but that's a sign of life. Overall a really good helmet and a great investment. I haven't tried it with sunglasses just yet. But yay! I hope this protects me for a loooong while.

Feels great and very secure without any weight or discomfort. My wife was involved in a car bike accident, she was on the bike. She recovered from 11 broken bones as well as a fractured skull and brainbleed. We looked up the rating on her helmet and found none. That’s why we shop our helmets now by the Virginia Tech ratings. You don’t always get a second chance. Good job, lovemy new helmet !
