The Helmet
Below are some common questions about our helmet
What is the PIKIO Si OBLIK cycling helmet?
The PIKIO Si is a premium road and gravel cycling helmet from PIKIO Labs, designed to combine advanced impact protection, lightweight comfort, and ventilation. It features OBLIK impact management technology and is ranked #1 by Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings.
What makes the PIKIO Si OBLIK better than other helmets?
The PIKIO Si is designed to provide exceptional protection without compromising comfort, ventilation, or weight. It features OBLIK technology, a modular system designed to help manage impact forces, while its lightweight design and 17 vents keep you cool and comfortable on every ride.
The PIKIO Si is also ranked #1 by Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, with the highest score among helmets tested by the lab.
How often should a helmet be replaced?
It is recommended to replace your helmet every 3 years, even if it hasn’t been involved in a crash. If you've had a fall or the helmet has taken any impact, it's important to replace it right away. Even if there's no visible damage, the materials inside may no longer provide proper protection.
What happens if I accidentally remove the modular pieces?
Carefully, attach the modular piece snap pins to their retainers.
How do I clean my helmet?
Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild soap and warm water to clean only the outer shell of the helmet. Avoid removing the modular pieces or applying any cleaning agents to the EPS components. Do not use harsh chemicals or submerge the helmet in water. The fabric fitting pads can be removed, gently hand-washed, and air-dried before reattaching.
What should I do if my helmet gets damaged from a crash?
If requirements are met, we will provide you with a new helmet at a discounted rate through our crash replacement program.
What if the helmet I want is out of stock?
If the size or colour you're looking for is currently out of stock, feel free to contact us at support@pikiolabs.com. We'd be happy to check our available inventory and help you find the best option.
Does the helmet come with warranty?
Yes, the helmet includes a one-year limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, or regular wear and tear. For more information please refer to our warranty page
Can I paint or modify my helmet?
No. Any modification or replacement of components will affect performance and void the warranty.
What are macro-cavities, and why are they important?
Macro-cavities are engineered voids integrated into the liner structure. They improve shock absorption while reducing material usage and overall helmet weight. When combined with the modular system, helmet ventilation also improves thanks to continuous, deep airflow channels throughout the helmet.
Sizing & Fit
Below are some common questions about fit and sizing
What head shape is your helmet most suitable for?
The PIKIO Si is designed with an intermediate oval fit, the most common head shape among cyclists. It is slightly longer from front to back than it is wide, offering a secure and comfortable fit for the most riders.
How should my helmet fit?
A properly fitted helmet should feel snug all around your head—not loose and not uncomfortably tight. Shake your head; if the helmet moves independently, it’s too big. Move the helmet with your hand; your scalp should move with it. Buckle the chin strap so it’s secure. Use the adjustment system for fine-tuning.
Read more on our Helmet Sizing Page.
What should I do if I'm between helmet sizes?
If your head circumference falls at the upper end of a helmet's size range, we generally recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit.
For more info regarding sizing, visit our Helmet Sizing Page.
How do I meausre the length and width of my head?
Feel free to follow along with this video:
Measuring Head Length and Width | PIKIO Si
All you need is cardboard, a ruler, and a pair of scissors.
Can I try on the PIKIO Si in person?
At this time, the PIKIO Si is available for purchase online only. We’re working toward expanding our retail presence so riders can try the helmet on in person.
My helmet feels slightly too big or too small, how can I adjust the fit?
If your helmet feels slightly too big or too small, you can fine-tune the fit using the rear fit system and chin straps. The helmet should sit level and securely on your head without feeling overly tight or creating pressure points.
To adjust the fit system, feel free to check out our video guide here.
How tight should my helmet's chin strap be?
The chin strap should be snug but comfortable. Once fastened, you should be able to fit two fingers between your chin and the strap. The helmet should remain securely in place without feeling restrictive or causing discomfort.
One side of the straps is longer than the other, how do I adjust them?
You can easily adjust the chin straps at home. Please follow the video guide below for step-by-step instructions.

What should I do if the straps are too short?
If the straps feel too short or make the helmet uncomfortable to wear, please contact us at support@pikiolabs.com. We'd be happy to help by providing a helmet with longer straps.

OBLIK™
Below are some of are some common questions about OBLIK.
What is OBLIK?
OBLIK™ is PIKIO LABS’ proprietary helmet impact-management technology designed to manage both linear and rotational forces during an impact. It uses a modular, dual-layer layer, dual-density structure that combines a base liner with independently moving shock-absorbing modules to better absorb and divert energy of impacts coming from any direction.
You can find our full explanation here: OBLIK .
How is OBLIK different from conventional helmet technology?
Traditional helmets rely on a single foam liner, sometimes paired with a slip layer, which can limit how complex impacts are managed. OBLIK™ uses a modular architecture with independently moving elements connected through a deflection-sensitive nodal system. This allows the helmet structure to respond more adaptively to the intensity, location, and direction of impact forces, helping manage both linear and oblique impacts.
What problem was OBLIK designed to solve?
Scientific research shows that both linear and rotational forces contribute to head injury risk. Conventional helmets are primarily optimized for linear impacts. OBLIK tries to tackle this limitation by reducing linear and rotational forces during impact without adding weight or compromising ventilation.
How does OBLIK work?
OBLIK consists of a base liner, independently mounted shock-absorbing modules, and flexible nodal connections. During impact, energy is absorbed through dual-density foam and macro-cavities, while modules move independently to reduce rotational forces transmitted to the head.
Does OBLIK make helmets heavier?
No. OBLIK is engineered to reduce overall helmet weight while improving impact management by placing material only where it is structurally necessary.
How does OBLIK affect ventilation?
OBLIK improves ventilation through continuous airflow channels, larger strategically placed true-vents, and reduced internal material blockage.
Is OBLIK a liner, an insert, or a slip layer?
OBLIK is a fully integrated impact-management system rather than a removable insert or slip layer similar to MIPS.
